Green Technology Class Information

LEED (GA)

This course will offer an introduction to the following Green Technologies

This program is targeted to assist Veterans and unemployed persons in Solano County by providing an opportunity for Students to pursue professions and employment in the emerging Green Economy.

LEED Professional Credentials demonstrate current knowledge of green building technologies, best practices, and the rapidly evolving LEED Rating Systems. They show differentiation in a growing and competitive industry, and they allow for varied levels of specialization.
A LEED Professional Credential provides employers, policymakers, and other stakeholders with assurances of an individual’s level of competence and is the mark of the most qualified, educated, and influential green building professionals in the marketplace.

Eligibility requirements for enrollment:
1. Must be 18 years or older
2. Right to work in the United States
3. Males must have Selective Service Registration
4. A valid Driver's license or ID card
5. Social Security Account number or Certification of Report of Birth

Students MUST attend either one of the two orientation meetings that will be scheduled in order for Students to provide verification for the eligibility requirements for enrollment, and to answer any questions they may have about the Green Education Program. Please bring COPIES of the following: your selective service registration, social security # or copy of birth certificate, valid and unexpired Driver's License or ID Card, and if not a citizen, verification of the right to work in the United States.


NABCEP (PV)

The course provides 30 classroom instruction hours covering an overview of grid-tied and off-grid PV system applications, primarily focusing on grid-tied systems, with an additional 12 hours of hands-on activities. The course goal is to create an understanding of core concepts necessary to work with all PV system components as outlined in the NABCEP Entry Level Exam learning objectives, including PV markets and applications, fundamentals of electricity and solar energy, system components, site analysis, PV module criteria, mounting solutions, safety and commissioning. The course also covers sizing a residential grid-tied system, wire sizing, overcurrent protection and grounding. Assembly of a ground-mounted 3-panel system highlights the hands-on activity sessions.
