• CJ 001   INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE

    Description: Introduction to Criminal Justice presents an overview of informal and formal means of social control. It is a study of the history, evolution, philosophy, structure, operation and role of the criminal justice system and its component sub-systems (law enforcement, courts, corrections). It also explores the history of the U.S. Constitution and application of constitutional principles; theories of crime causation and criminal behavior. Another component of this course is the study of professional ethics, education and training for professionals in the criminal justice system. Required for all Criminal Justice majors. (CAN AJ 2). Three hours lecture.
