Electronics Technology
The fields of electronics and computer servicing offer unlimited opportunities. With the development of the integrated circuit and its incorporation into products such as computers, factory equipment, and consumer goods, there appears to be no end in sight for the future of electronics. New applications and products are being developed constantly and the need for skilled employees to aid in design, manufacture, and servicing these products will continue to grow. Each of these fields presents opportunities form the greater San Francisco Bay Area to Sacramento where many firms, big and small, are seeking skilled technologists. Some graduates with a degree or certificate can expect potential salaries of over $2,000 per month. Extensive experience and further education may more than double this amount. Work may be with a private firm, business under government contract or civil service. Technicians may work in research and development or in manufacturing. They may assist an engineer, or in some cases a criminologist, or direct junior technicians or mechanics in the laboratory or field, independently or with a team of other technicians. Entry into these fields as a trainee or assistant may lead to advancement to senior technician, supervisor or project technician. Students may substitute:
