This program provides opportunities for career preparation by combining college study and related work. The Occupational Work Experience program will assist you to explore and choose a career wisely, prepare you for full-time employment and for career advancement.

  • Comply with all state and federal employment regulations

To Qualify...

OCED 090

Work (paid or unpaid) for a licensed business in a job directly related to your occupational major.

Attend a weekly coordination seminar and develop and pursue new and challenging job-oriented objectives.

Credits for OCED 090

A maximum of four (4) units per semester may be earned. Repeatable to a total of 16 units.

For a full semester section of paid work:

1 unit = 5 work hours per week

2 units = 10 work hours per week

3 units = 15 work hours per week

4 units = 20 work hours per week
 

For a 12 week section of paid work:

1 unit = 7 work hours per week

2 units = 14 work hours per week

3 units = 21 work hours per week
 

For an 8 week section of paid work:

1 unit = 10 work hours per week

2 units = 20 work hours per week

 


To Qualify...

OCED 091

Work (paid or unpaid) for a licensed business. Job does not need to relate to your major.

Credits for OCED 091

A maximum of three (3) units per semester may be earned. Repeatable to a total of six (6) units.

For a full semester section of paid work:

1 unit = 5 work hours per week

2 units = 10 work hours per week

3 units = 15 work hours per week
 

For a 12 week section of paid work:

1 unit = 7 work hours per week

2 units = 14 work hours per week


For an 8 week section of paid work:

1 unit = 10 work hours per week

 

Important Note: Unpaid work requires fewer work hours per week. Late start sections require more work hours per week. Combined units in all work experience classes cannot exceed 16.

Qualified students who are not working can seek placement assistance from the Student Placement Office.
